The Friends of the Arizona Mining & Mineral Museum, an Arizona 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation, was formed in 2003 as a charitable foundation to facilitate volunteer activities and to provide a way for people and companies to make tax-deductible gifts that support the goals of the Museum.
Our mission is to establish and operate a support group to promote and assist in the operation of the Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum. The activities include assisting in museum planning, specimen acquisition, publication of information about the museum, conducting tours, helping maintain exhibits, planning exhibits, conservation of artifacts, preparation of electronic and paper records, mining and mineral education, and volunteer recognition.
Since 2003 we have given the museum over $35,000 for display cases, museum lighting, and CDs for Teacher Kits. We have sponsored a state-wide museum Outreach Program where volunteers have delivered well-received mining and mineral educational enrichment programs at schools and clubs across the state, and provided many other forms of support.
We gratefully acknowledge grants received from Phelps Dodge, Freeport McMoran Copper & Gold Foundation, QWEST, APS, Resolution Copper, Mintec, Arizona Foundation for Resource Education, and Wickenburg Gem & Mineral Society.
